[Opinions] Evangeline
What do you think of Evangeline? Could Gina work as a nickname for Evangeline? Also, Are Adeline and Evangeline too similar looking for sisters? TIA!

OMgosh!I've been having the same internal debate about Gina being a legitimate nn for Evangelina! Thing is, I love the combo Evangeline / Evangelina Belrose (Belrose is a family name on DH's side), but I also want to honor a couple of female relatives on MY side w/the names of Jeanne & Jeannie. I thought using Jeanna would be a great way to honor them, but my Jeanna combos aren't nearly as inspiring as Evangelina Belrose. I've been thinking I should use Evangelina & the nn Gina. I seriously think it *could* work!As for Adeline & Evangeline as sisters...are you prn them both with the -leen ending or is one -line and the other -leen? Or are you prn Evangeline with a -lyn ending? As long as the endings are prn differently, I think they're fine for sisters; they may look similiar, but I think it's just similar enough to provide continuity in the sibset, IYKWIM.

I love Evangeline. It's beautiful and refreshing. I could see Gina as a nn. I also like the nn's Lena, Eva and Gia.

I like Evangeline, but prefer Eva and Eve. Gina could work, but it would be a stretch.Evangeline and Adeline are too close for sisters. Eve and Adeline, Eva and Adeline, or even Evelyn and Adeline are much better.

I rather like Evangeline pronounced e-van-ge-line. Yes, Gina would work, but I don't like it. Adeline and Evangeline aren't too similar since you're using the leen pronunciation for the latter.

I could see getting Gina out of Evangeline, and I like it better than the other possible nicknames. I do think that Adeline and Evangeline are a little matchy for siblings, though.

I love Evangeline!
I knew a girl who was named Evangeline and went by Gina. I think she goes by Lena now though.
As for the sister set I think it depends on how you pronounce each name. If you are usin the leen ending for both or the lien ending for both it might be too similar. If you are planning on using a nickname for Evangeline then i wouldn't worry about it. Both names are beautiful. How are you pronouncing Evangeline and Adeline?

Adeline- With the lien prn.
Evangeline- With the leen prn.

If that's the case, I don't think they are too similar.

I hate it. I think it's way too religious. This name just makes me think of those self-righteous hypocritical tv ministers.

I think Evangeline is a pretty cool name, Gina would be as good a nickname as any [Evie also good], and I would hesitate to use Adeline and Evangeline on sisters for the reason you mentioned.
