Help[Opinions] Shiloh
Anyone else think that this is only popular because of Angelina Jolie? I mean, I had never heard of anyone name their kid Shiloh before May 2006. I mean, it's a nice name and all but I wouldn't name my kid Shiloh just because of a celebrity.
Plus, I was learning about the Civil War in school at that time, and there was a battle called the Battle of Shiloh or something like that... all I could think about when people were talking about Angelina Jolie's baby was that she named her daughter after a battle in the Civil War!
I don't know, it seems to be pretty popular on these boards so I might be the only one. Just wondering, though.

I grew up with a boy named Shiloh. Apparently it was quite common around the time of the Civil War and then had a resurrection around the time kids of my generation were being born. (1970s, if you're curious.)
I don't think it's right for every kid, but there will be the occasional child that it suits. (Myself, I named my son's rocking horse Shiloh.)

I knew a girl named Shiloh in college. I remember I accidentally called her Silo one day, and I was so embarrassed. (And actually I knew a Shiloh in high school too, but for some reason she went by the nn Sloane instead.)
I really like it, but definitely wouldn't use it these days because of Angelina Jolie.

I've met one Shilo [this spelling] who is way older then Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, she must have been in her 20s.
I have loved the name Shiloh way before she was even born. I would still use it to this day despite her sharing the same name.
I do not like it because Angelina Jolie (I don't even like Angelina at all].
My Shiloh would haven gotten his or her name from the children's book, and Shiloh the place, and another title for Jesus from the Bible.

Oh, how stupid of me not to check BtN first. I've searched Bible websites for it, and at first I didn't find anything. I see where it is now, although I've always thought it to mean something like until the sons get to Shiloh (the city).

I always thought It was a pretty name, but now everyone loves it. So ya I kind of agree.

I dislike the name Shiloh. For me, it's too close to the word 'silo'. I don't know why, but this name sounds so tacky and shallow. *shrugs*

Also, Shiloh was a name given to the Messiah. Even if you're not religious, that might offend a bunch of people.

Have you considered registering for an account? If you are logged in when you post, you can then edit your posts after the fact. That way, you wouldn't have to keep replying to yourself with your changes. (Not being snarky, just trying to point out an advantage of registering that you may not know already and seem to need.)
