[Opinions] Lara
What do you think of the name Lara? This name is another long-time favorite of mine, and one that I've really been liking lately.

it's been growing on me lately. I like it more than I used to.
I like it a lot at the moment. More interesting than Laura, but not weird ;)
I love it and really want to use it as a nickname for Larissa in the future providing I have a daughter.
The Lara spelling denotes to me that it would be pronounced LARE-ah or LAR-ah, so she'd constantly have to spell it and pronounce it for people. That's enough reason not to use it, imo.
I love it. It is simple but extremely pretty. I have two cousins with this name and they are both sweet, dark haired cuties. Lara fits them well and the association makes me love the name even more.
It's kinda like lava...
I prefer Lana.
Boring, but
not anything that I'd call terrible, either. Just kind of bland. It follows the consonant-vowel-consonant-vowel pattern for female names that I don't find particularly exciting. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing compelling, in my opinion.

"Somewhere my love. There will be songs to sing . . . "
Have you seen / read "Dr. Zhivago?" Julie Christie as Lara made me fall in love with the name. Her theme song is haunting. As usual, the book is better, but long. The movie is more accessible.
Lara is the Russian nn for Larissa ("lar-EE-sa").

Ditto.
It's okay. My name's Laura so, to me, Lara looks weird. But really, it's simple and uncommon. I think it may get annoying to have to spell it so people don't confuse it with Laura, though. It also reminds me of Kara and Sara and other such names, which I don't really like.

I love it.
I've thought about it often, and it's occasionally been on my list. Would you pronounce it lah-RA or lar-A? I like them both, prefer the former. It's really a very pretty, simple, uncommon name.

Currently my favorite pronunciation of Lara is much like the one given in this name's entry (for English) on this website: LAHR-a. However, I have heard of some others that I like too.

I'm not sure why I don't favour it more.

I like Lara. I think it's one of those names that you can't go wrong with :)
