I adore the name Milo, and by itself, I think it works well as a full name. However, my current favourite boys' names are all much longer and "extravagant", so what names could Milo be a nickname for? I know some of you aren't for basing a name around a nn, but this is just hypothetical, so please, could you help me out? I don't mind stretches. TIA!

By the way, my favourite boys' names at the moment are:
Ignatius
Valentine
Oleander
Lucifer (ignoring the connotations)
Demetri
... if that helps any.

Milo is my all time favorite boy's name, and I have the same problem as you!

My boyfriend and I both really love the name Nathaniel.

There are some short quirky names I also like such as Dmitri and Felix, but I'm not sure.

I don't think Milo can be short for anything, perhaps give him a longer middlename, and if you have any others give them shorter middle names?

My personal Milo favorite is Milo Frederick.

But from your list I think Milo Ignatius would be a great name!

The first name I thought of was Solomon, for which Milo would be a funky nickname. ;) I prefer Sol and Solly, but I could live with Milo in this case.

I don't see a problem with having an Ignatius and a Milo, though. Who wants uniformity? Bah, I say! ;D

I have a Milomir in my family (somehow related to my grandmother Natasa). I'm not sure how to pronounce it though. There is a character in the book Armadillo named Milomre which might be related to Milomir.

Milo could be a nickname for Milos (I believe Mariska Hargitay's son's second middle name is Milos, after her father), Miloslav or Miles.

I love both Miles and Milo, so I think Milo would make a great nn for Miles. :) but that might not be "extravagant" enough for you. :b

**But I assume you're pronouncing it MYE-loh, and most of these names are pronounced with it as MEE-loh, I think. :-/
