Just a note: My name is Catherine, and I've probably only been called Cate/ Kate like 2-3 times my entire life. So it's definitely possible. I kind of agree about Philip, though. I love that name, but I dislike Phil, but unfortunately I have never met a Philip that was not called Phil for short.
