Help[Opinions] Evangeline & Johanna (OPINIONS PLEASE!)
I wrote this post in response to someones response to my Raine Hannah post. (Did that make sense?) But I REALLY want opinions and havent gotten any, so I am posting it seperate.
I really like the Evangeline for some reason. I think its partly because a my best guy friend at college, who had a HUGE impact on my first year especially, part of his screen name is Evangel. This guy is like a big brother to me when I am at college. He is graduating this semester :'( and I know I will be in tears to see him go.
Would it be weird to use Evangeline to honor him?
I really like Johanna too. I think of Hannah but with Jo in front of it...which I like but could never use a Jo/Joe name (my dads mn is Joseph and I would never honor him). I wouldnt think of my dad with this name, but would others suspect that? I think I would spell it Johannah to get the full Hannah affect.
What do you think? With the backgrounds, which would you use? Which flows better?

Evangeline seems stuck up to me, so I don't like it. Johanna is actually one of my favorites, but I hate the jo-hannah pronounciation; yo-HAHN-ah is better. I would use Joanna if you like the first pronounciation better.

Raine Evangeline sounds best to me, and Johannah Raine sounds better than Raine Johannah to my ears.

Evangeline is nms but I think it's a nice name and a good way to honor someone special.
I like Johanna except prn the German way yoe-hahn-nah. The joe-hannah prn seems awkward to me like pronouncing Jacques jak-kwes. Nonetheless, my cousin's wife is named Johanna and most people have americanized the pronunciation to joe-hannah or joe-anna so despite my dislike for the joe-hannah pronunciation it is plausible. As for the spelling Johannah and whether people will think you're honoring your father, the name definitely looks like a combination of Jo and Hannah. To people who know your father's Joe they may assume it is in his honor and in honor of some Hannah. The ommission of the e in Joe doesn't change this because Jo is considered the feminine spelling of Joe.

The first things that come to mind are Evangelical churches and Jahovah's Witnesses. I have no idea why. But I guess as middle names they are okay.

Evangeline is long IMO. But it's pretty. Reminds me of Evelyn and Angelina. Johannah is alright, prefer it spelt Johanna because otherwise the "h" looks too much. Are you pron. Raine like rain or rainy? I don't think I like either...

I don't like Evangeline (because I don't like evangelism) but there's nothing wrong with it per se, and no, it wouldn't be weird to use it to honour him.
I *love* Johanna, it's a family name for me as many of my Jewish/German/Austrian/Czech/Polish ancestors & relatives had/have the name (being essentially 'Jane' it's not surprising that it's common, but nevermind!) Don't spell it Johannah though - that just looks creative! :-)
