[Opinions] Opal
Two books I've read recently had daughters named Opal in them. Opal has been on my guilty pleasure list for ages, but seeing the name in print makes me wonder if I should take it more seriously. WDYT?

I think it's a very sweet and feminine name! So, yeah, I think you should consider it. :-D

I love Opal!!Probably because I knew an Opal, she was a couple years older than me, so I kinda looked up to her...not a lot though, she had a kid at like 14, but you know...

Opal is sweet but not necessarily a name I'd use. I have the image of a cartoon pig (not sure why) or a wise-cracking waitress. :b But I like it in theory.

I like the sound of it. I'd take it seriously if I were you :)

I think it's very prettyJewel names are popular now, but you hardly ever see Opal. You see tons of Jades, Diamond and Rubies, and Pearl is catching on. Amber's been popular a long time now, and Esmeralda and Emerald are catching on too. But no Opals. I think it's worth a chance.

I like Opal. It's hard not to say"Opel", though.

I like the name Opal,it's also my birthstone, and I've read a few books with that name in it myself.I don't think I would name my own child Opal, but I do think it's a really good name.I saw a movie once where the mother had named her kids after precious gems...their names where Opal,Pearl, and Jasper.I wouldn't use a nn for Opal either. Those are my thoughts on the name.

Opal is really a sweet name but since I sometimes like it and sometimes don't I would be more likely to use it as a MN, much as I do Pearl. Opals are beautiful stones and wish I could like the name Opal a bit more than I do, but it just seems to have a bit of an old-lady sound. But I think Opal would work well in this era where Iris, Violet, Ruby, Daisy and many other nature names are used extensively, it would be very cute and I'd love to see Opal used as a first name!
