Maybe an English diminutive form of the word "page" (pahzh)? It means "page" in French, but is not a name...

Dont quote me on it but I beleive I rad it means something along the lines of page boy.

The surname Page is from the Old French 'page' meaning....wait for it...."page"!
A page would have been either one of the two dictionary definitions below (probably not a page boy in the sense of a wedding page boy).
1. A boy who acted as a knight's attendant as the first stage of training for chivalric knighthood.
2. A youth in ceremonial employment or attendance at court.
