I am curious why you want to know about the last name "Lukeas" as that is my maiden name. It is very rare and if anyone has it they are a relative of mine. Yes it is greek. Was your last name Lukeas at one time?
My father's mother is a Lukeas "Mary Evangeline Lukeas." She had sisters...Helen and Carrie Lukeas. Lived in Erie, PA.
If, as you say, the name is Greek, then the meaning would depend on the orginal Greek spelling. Luk- would transliterate into Roman script as Lyk-. This looks like a name based on lykos, "wolf." If on the other hand, the original Greek letters spelt Loukeas, to obtain a broad U sound, then the name is probably from Lucas, Luke, as already suggested.
I'd guess its meaning is either Greek or Latin ...presumably related to 'Luke' which means "light" ...
