[Opinions] Jovie???
I had never heard of Jovie until I saw the movie Elf last year (with Will Farrell) and since she was a charming character I've kind of fallen for the name. WDYT? What does it make you think of? Know any who has this name or heard of it being used? Could this name be a nn for another name? Secondly, the actress who played Jovie is Zooey Deschanel (not sure if I spelled the ln right), wdyt of that spelling for Zoe? It kind of reminds me of the Zoo.

I used to know a girl named Jovie. She was Romanian, I think.I used to know what it was short for, but I forgot.

Reminds me too much of jovial...and since I know the plot of the movie Elf it makes me think of a cheap way to inject some Christmas spirit into the movie.Love that movie.

Jovie reminds me of Jon Bon Jovi. I don't really care for Jovie, but I do like Jolie.Zooey looks like it should be pronounced ZOO-ee. I don't like that spelling at all, but I love Zoe.

All it reminds me of is Bon Jovi, as In Jon.

Jovie reminds me of Jon Bon Jovi. It's nmsaa, but I like the similar name Jolie, which means "pretty".Zooey's awful; not only does it butcher the spelling, but it screws with the pronunciation so you have the oh-so-tease-prone ZOO sound. Imo, Zoe should only be spelled Zoë (ZO-ee) or Zoé (zo-AY), because anything else (Zoey, Zowie, Zooey, Zoie, Zoi, ad nauseum) just looks kre8iv to me... although Zoey's the most tolerable of all of them.Miranda

I'm pretty sure Zooey Deschanel's name is pr. ZOO-e.

It is prn zoo-ee. She's named after a J D Salinger character.Franny & Zooey was the name of the story. I've read it. BTW, the character Zooey Glass is a male.

Was the name pronounced like JOE-vee? I reminds me of Jon Bon Jovi actually and I'd prefer the spelling Jovi aswell. I don't mind it though, very modern sounding, but not too bad. Don't know anyone with this name and never heard of anyone using it either, yet! Hate Zoe spelt Zooey, reminds me of the zoo aswell. I'd want to say it ZOO-ee.
