wdyto Jean?
My DH and I just got a new puppy recently. Last night while it whined, I distracted myself by thinking about names - yes, quite nerdy :) I have been liking Jean (girl) as a mn, but starting thinking why not as a first name? What do you think of this name? Is it too old? What mn can you think of to go with it? TIA

Jean is more masculine than feminine to me - I like it pronounced ZHAHN (m), but I dislike it pronounced JEEN (f). Actually, the feminine Jean would be nice spelled Gin. (I know what gin means, but Jean looks better spelled so, IMHO)Possible middle names:
Jean Melisande
Jean Lucia
Jean Morwenna
Jean Fiona
Jean Samantha
Jean Louisa
Jean Opal
Jean Phoebe
Jean Eleonora
Jean Liliana
Jean Viola
Jean Eloise
Jean Amabel
Jean Ariana
Jean Olivia
Jean Evita
Jean Malvina
Jean Sierra
Jean Emmanuelle

Jean Estella
Jean Sophia
Jean Lilah

Jean MarillaMy favourite GP combo is Jean Amaryllis. I'd never do it, but I do love it.

I don't like it, but really only because I'm most familiar with it as a "filler" mn like Ann, Marie, Renee, etc...
It also reminds me of deep southern double first names like Barbara Jean, Billie Jean, Bonnie Jean, etc...

I like it and most of the other feminine forms of John as well. Jean is perky and full of energy. I don't think it's too old at all. Jane is stylish, Joan is making a comeback, why not Jean?Jean Amelia
Jean Penelope
Jean Susanna
Jean Lydia
Jean Eliza
Jean Caroline

Love itJean Elizabeth, nn Jeanie, was a favorite of mine for years. I'm Irish, but I've always been drawn to Scottish history. Jean brings to mind a Scottish noblewoman in the time of Mary Queen of Scots. Reading about that time period is when I fell in love with the name.Jean is also part of that WWII era that I've been predicting is the next set of names to make a comeback. We've had turn of the twentieth century names like Lily, Clementine, Ruby and Josephine back now for a few years. Once the WWII era grandmothers become great-grandmothers their names will (I predict) become more popular. Jean Elspeth
Jean Margaret / Margery
Jean Isobel
Jean Finola
Jean Katharine
Jean Miranda
Jean Rosalind
Jean Carole
Jean Audrey
Jean Miriam

Jean Isabella- don't like the name personally but it flows well
