Amelia, Emilia, Amalia ...
Which of these do you like best? I have a cousin named Emily, are these all too similar to her name for me to use?AMALIA [a-MAHL-ee-a?]
AMELIA [a-MEE-lee-a]
AMÉLIE [AHM-uh-lee or a-may-LEE] Which way do you pronounce this?
EMELIA [e-MEE-lee-a]
EMILIA [e-MEE-lee-a]These are where each name ranked in 2004 in the U.S.
Amelia ranked at 96
Emilia ranked at 470
Amelie ranked at 841
Amalia did not rank
Emelia did not rank

Amalia is the least similar. However, I say Emilia eh-mih-LEE-ah, more like Emily than Amelia, and I loooove that pron.

The only one I think would be too similar to Emily would be Amelie (if pronounced AH-meh-lee). I like Amelia the best, despite its popularity. I love Emilia, too, but I think people would constantly mispronounce and misspell it, mistake it for Amelia. I heard of an Emilia once and she pronounced it like Emma-Leah. I used to love that, but now I think it's a bit hokey. :b

Amelia! I love this name. It's one of my favorites. I don't care for Emilia. I do like Amalia though, it's very pretty as well.I don't think any of them are too similar to use even if you have a cousin named Emily.

I really like all of them! With a cousin named Emily I'd stay away from Emelia and Emilia, but the others would be fine. My two faves are Amelia and Amelie, but my very fave is Amelia.AMALIA [a-MAHL-ee-a]
AMELIA [a-MEE-lee-a]
AMÉLIE [AHM-uh-lee]
EMELIA [e-MEE-lee-a]

Amelie is my favorite; I pronounce it AHM-uh-lee. If you name your daughter any other form of the name, it wouldn't be too close to your cousin's, but Amelie and Emily sound very alike.

Amelia nn Lia is my fav. It is fine to use Emily variants even with your cousin.~*~*~*~

No, I don't think any of them are too similar, since I don't think it matters if a relative has the same name or a similar name to a name you'd use.I like Amelia the best.Edit: Spelling.

Amalia is really pretty. I like Amelie too (with either pronunciation). Amelia, Emilia, and Emelia are all nice but they sound a bit too old-fashioned for me.
