Jarl?
What are your thoughts on the name Jarl. I came to think of it yesterday and just wonder what you think.
It's not a name I would use because when I was little my mum was friends with a woman named Jenny who was married to a Jarl and their children were named Jack and Jill. I always think of the themey naming but still the more I say it the more I like it.

There's a Jarl way back in my family tree--I have a lot of Viking ancestry. It's an interesting name, and pretty cool in my opinion, but I wouldn't use it.

Jarl sounds like a noise a bulldog makes. And Jack and Jill look EXTREMELY corny together.

It is a jolly noise, but to me it is exactly like using King or Duke or Prince

I have a very specific association: to a company called Carl Jarl locksmiths in Omaha. I've had to use their services several times in the past 20 years. http://www.carljarl.com/Of course it's always seemed a little humorous to me that a family named Jarl would give a son Carl as a first name. But it makes for a memorable business name. :)

Sorry. it's not my usual, but the first thing that popped into my head was:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jarlsberg_cheeseOtherwise, I just think of Carl with a strange twist.

Ditto, lol!Jarlsberg cheese was what I thought of too. I didn't make the association with Carl though. It's not really my style but I don't really dislike it either.
