Also, I am searching for an Gaelic-Irish name for a female in a piece I am writing.
The girl is short, 5'1", with long, rich auburn hair and dark green eyes. She is pale, with light freckles across her nose. She is very quiet, but a natural leader and will take charge in crisis. She does things for the good of the people around her, and though she doesn't show it, she cares about them deeply.
I thought, for her, something like:
Eithne (EN-Ya)
Beibhinn (BAY-vin)
Caoilfhionn (KEE-lin)

Beibhinn is a great name, but I agree with Aiver, the name should be easily pronounced. How about Beibhinn's anglicization, Bevin?

Beibhinn is a great name, but I agree with Aiver, the name should be easily pronounced. How about Beibhinn's anglicization, Bevin?

Isabelle - really dislike that spelling, like Isabel and Isobel
Victoria/Vittoria - too regal sounding for me
Elizabeth - prefer Elisabeth and Eilis
Katrina/Catriona - Caitriona is ok
Gabriella/Gabrielle - nice but nms
I like all three Irish names you suggested but if it were me, I would go for a name that's easier to pronounce. I know it annoys me when I'm reading something and don't know how to pronounce the names. I would go for something like -
Ailish
Emer
Tara
Aideen
Maeve
Orla

love Gabriella. Eli (my son) goes to school with an Eithne but she just spells it Enya. i think it is lovely (she is a cute little girl!) Don't like any other names but love the short forms of Elizabeth - Bessie, Betty and Betsy
