Jola
I'm thinking of replacing something in my top ten (possibly Tempest) with the name Jola (pro. JOLE-ah. Just as it looks).

I was actually thinking about this name (or something like it) recently. I wanted to honor a Joseph but Josephine is getting so popular. I was trying to think of a spelling that made sense but the only one I could come up with was Joela but my fear was that this would be pron. jo-EL-la.
Regardless, I like the sound of JOLE-ah and the spelling you've chosen! ----Betsy-----

As far as I know, the pronunciation is YO-la.

It's a variant of Jolie. I'm sure the pet form of Jolanda is Yo-lah, but the Jolie variant isn't.-Seda*

In that case, wouldn't the pronunciation be ZHO-la, since Jolie is rightly zho-LEE?:-)

Not in America. I know that's the French pronunciation, but only Angelina's name is pronounced that way here and the first name is pronounced JOLE-ee it sounds almost like JOEL-ee.-Seda*
