Love it, prefer Lakin tough"There is none Holy like The Lord, there is none besides Thee; there is no Rock like our God." (1 Samuel 2:2 RSV)

I don't care for Laken but I do like Larkin. A lot.

It's kind of a guilty pleasure of mine, actually--I wouldn't ever use it, but I like it even though it's not my usual style. :b BTW, I first heard the name on a now-defunct soap opera called "Santa Barbara," so it makes me think of soap operas. And lakes. :)

I know a little girl named Laken too. It suits her. I've also heard Larken.

It's very cute, but it'd date her badly._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

Personally I'd prefer this for a boy. Its sound fits in with the popular boys' names in the USA today better than the girls'. Its use as a girls' name seems to have been initiated by a character on the now-defunct TV soap opera Santa Barbara.

Whoah. I didn't even see your post and I used almost the exact same phrase. :-/

I actually know a girl named Laken, her brother's name is Kaine, and she's rather cute and sweet. I'm not sure that I exactly like the name, it's not one of my favorite but it's alright *shrug*.
