Axel & Acer
I have just read about twin boys Axel & Acer who both survived after catching viral meningitis at five days old. I’m not a huge fan of either name but as far as nature names go Acer is okay for a boy. I might have gone with Acer and Rowan though. What do you think of the names Axel and Acer?

Axel and Acer are painfully edgy badboy names. Corny too, they sound like cartoon bullies.

I absolutely loathe it when parents give their twins theme names or those starting with the same letter. It's annoying.Axel is the better of the two. Acer makes me think of computers.

I completely agree.

Would these twins be of Hispanic origin? Axel has been quite popular in Latin America recently, and Aser is the Spanish form of the Old Testament biblical name Asher. In Spanish the first vowel would be pronounced "Ah", not like "Ace". It's easy to find examples of men named Acer with common Spanish surnames on Google, so perhaps Acer is a respelling of Aser.

The parents are Jason and Abby Ayre from Edinburgh, Scotland. It doesn’t give the parents nationalities.

So obviously being Hispanic is not the explanation! :)

I dislike Acer. I like Axel, but I dislike how trendy it has become in the US. Here it's a very traditional name (much like James, William etc)

I like Axel in Scandinavia. Outside it, not so much. And Acer to me just screams One Who Aces, which is probably over-ambitious. Even in Latin it isn't great: literally sharp, figuratively all manner of things including Penetrating (thoughts, smells), Shrill (voice), Passionate (spouse!) ...
