Thoughts on the name Ollie for a girl?
Thoughts on Ollie for a girl?

I think it’s adorable as a nn for Olive but on its own I don’t think it would age well, it sounds bit tacky and feels oily. But I would most importantly want the child to have the option of a full name (Olive, Olivia, Olivette) in the likely event that they don’t like it/grow out of it/want a more formal name.

The first time I heard Ollie on a girl was when a senior woman was running for an official title. I thought it suited her but I had a hard time seeing in on anyone else. Now I can see small children growing up with this name, and then growing out of it. If it were me, I would be Ollie to my loved ones but get upset if any strangers called me that. Olivette is nice! I don't like Olive or Oliver though. Thar's what's funny.

It's cute. I like it as a nickname for Olivia.

I've never met one, but it sounds sort of like Holly or Allie, and I like those, so I assume I'd like it.

Fine as a nickname for Olivia, Olive, Olinda, Olwen or Olena.Ollie does sound very young so it's nice to give options just in case.

Agree totally.

Maybe as a nickname, but definitely not a first name.
Either way I don't like it, not even as a nickname on a boy.

Unattractive, but probably inevitable for people named Olive, Olivia or, of course, Oliver.

I hate it, really. I do like Oli (m) tho

I'm sorry, but I don't like it as a full name. Perhaps, as a nickname for Olivia.

I really like it - but only as a NN. Same for a boy actually. It doesn't have the same ground as Molly, Sally or Willy because they actually have a longer history on the charts - but even those sound really child-like. Its few and far between when I see a diminutive ending in -y that I think would be "acceptable" as a legal name.

It would be cute as a nickname for Olympia/Olimpia/Olimpiada and maybe even for Eulalia/Eulalie.

its cute, but you would want them to have a more feminine full name (Oliva, Olive, ect,)
