Zimri
WDYT of the name Zimri? Can you see it used on a real child? Is Zimri Hubert entirely too weird? My opinion (just for reference; please still be blunt and honest):
I love the meanings of both names, and just discovered Zimri. Hubert is a necessity--I'm honouring my great-grandfather, who I consider to have been the most influential person in my life. I can see how Zimri could be thought of as "weird", though, and Hubert as an "old man" (well, he was!) name. Thanks!

I have never seen Zimri before, but I really really like it! I think I might add it to my own list!
I despise Hubert, but definitely use it, because it is awesome that it honours your great-grandfather. I have a similar situation in that I will definitely use Trevor as a mn even though I don't like the name at all because it is the name of my grandfather who is the biggest influence on my life. I think you should use Zimri Hubert, it is unusual, not weird and I like it

I don't know that I'd personally ever use Zimri but it's awfully cute. :) And it has history and meaning, definitely a plus in my book. I think Hubert is quite a "cool" name, too, and especially since it honors your GF. Zimri Hubert - I like it!BTW, I replied to your post about PCOS in the Lounge (under Chrisell's diet post).

With other Old Testament names such as Zachariah, Isaac, Elijah, and Nehemiah increasing in use, I don' think Zimri is "too weird." Personally, however, I'd probably balance it with a middle name which is more common than Hubert.

Zimri is cool :)I've never heard it before now but it's excellent, I see it and think 'wow!' I'd love to see it in a BA, Hubert too.I don't see Hubert as 'old man-ish' but Sidney, Albert, Walter, Kenneth (amongst other 'old man' names) are high on my list, ie I would consider using them. However, Hubert reminds me of the gay German lieutenant from 'Allo, 'Allo so it has a considerable comedic flavour to me but this is probably a rare association nowadays, most will not have seen 'Allo, 'Allo.

I like Zimri though I wouldn't use it my self. I hadn't heard it before.Zimri Hubert does sound a bit weird to me at first sight-could you use Zimri Hugh? However Hubert has such a good meaning doesn't it and it's special to you so I would say use it. I could see it growing on me.

Zimri isn't bad at all. At first I thought "What is she thinking?!" But it's growing on me very rapidly. Hubert ranks among the princes of my least favourite names. I really think he would be teased because of it, although as mn it wouldn't matter that much. If you feel alright honoring your grandfather without necessarily using his exact name, I would suggest going with Mar's recommendation and use Uberto. But that's just my opinion. :)Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I never saw Zimri before, but I like it. I do think it's very weird to pair up with Hubert. If you really need to use Hubert I'd go with Zimri Uberto, sounds more fitting to me.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
