Year One: Random--Adopt: boy from Canada, 10 yo
Zach and Katie were only married for about eight months when they adopted their first child from Canada. Brandon Lucas Wilkinson is the son of one of Zach's cousins, Andy. Zach and Andy were close, and when Andy and his wife passed away suddenly, Zach and Katie petitioned to adopt their only child, Brandon. Brandon has dark brown hair and brown eyes. He's a sweet child, but certainly traumatized by his parents' death. Brandon is attending counseling, but is adjusting to life in England pretty quickly.
Year Two: Family Event--Adopt: boy from England, 7 mo-1 yr
Zach and Katie weren't expecting to adopt a second child so soon after Brandon entered their lives, but they unexpectedly found themselves taking care of a little boy named Joshua. One morning, as Katie was going to work, she heard a small child crying. The baby was only a few hours old, but no one was around. Katie reported the child to the police, but didn't want to give him up--he was so small and frail that she knew he needed someone to love him. Immediately, Zach and Brandon fell in love with him too. Nine months later, they have adopted their second child--Joshua Alexander Wilkinson. Even though Josh is only nine months old, he has a shock of bright blond hair and wide blue eyes.
Year Three: Birth: boy, 8, 7, straight blond hair, green eyes
Matthias James Wilkinson was born this year! Once again, Zach and Katie weren't really planning on having a child of their own yet--their lives are busy enough with a preteen and a toddler in the house, but Brandon seems to really like his two younger brothers, and Josh is excited for his younger brother. Baby Matt has a tuft of blond hair and green eyes--nobody is really sure where the eyes came from...but he is healthy, and that's what matters!
Year Four: Travel
The Wilkinson Family took their first family vacation this year. Brandon wanted to visit some relatives in Canada, so Zach and Katie took the kids on a week-long trip to Canada. Brandon had an awesome time. Josh and Matt didn't really understand anything, but they were happy to hang out with their older brother some.
Year Five: Birth: boy/boy, 7, 6, 4, 2, curly black hair, blue eyes; curly black hair, brown eyes
Daniel Joseph and Dallas Chase Wilkinson were born this year! Zach and Katie are continuing to lead very busy, very full lives. Brandon is in high school now, but he has always been a model big brother. Josh and Matt are little terrors, and they are all over the place. Danny and Dallas are still infants, but they also make quite a ruckus.
Year Six: Family Event: Family Vacation
Zach and Katie took the kids on another family vacation this year. They didn't go as far as Canada this time. Instead, they went to London and did the tourist-y British things there. With five kids (and four under the age of 6), it was a bit of a challenge. Zach and Katie have decided that they should probably take some time for a vacation themselves.
Year Seven: Pet: You Pick
This year, Zach and Katie wanted to surprise the boys for Christmas--so they adopted a three year old dog from the ASPCA. Sassy is a copper and white Brittany Spaniel. She is very energetic, and the boys love her!
Year Eight: Travel
Zach and Katie took their long-awaited couples vacation this year! Brandon volunteered to Zach and Katie went to Greece as a sort of second honeymoon. They enjoyed their time together and returned ready to tackle life again!
Year NIne: Family Event: Family Vacation
Since Brandon is going off to college in the fall, Zach and Katie used the opportunity to take everyone on a last big family vacation. They took everyone to Switzerland for skiing in the Alps. The boys had a great time. Brandon has loved his four younger brothers, but is ready to get away and live his own life.
Year Ten: Travel
Zach and Katie took the boys on vacation again this year--this time to the United States. Josh was learning about the US in his Geography class at school, so Zach and Katie decided to take the kids to see the Statue of Liberty. Josh and Matt loved it! Danny and Dallas liked the kids exhibits, but didn't like climbing all the stairs to the top of the Statue.
Year Eleven: Travel
Brandon is doing well in college. He's in his sophomore year now at a University in southern England. He spent his second semester this year studying abroad in Australia. Brandon loved the time he spent there--and he even picked up a slight accent to go with his Canadian and British ones.
Year Twelve: Family Affair: Family Vacation
Once again, the family took a vacation together. A few months after Brandon returned from Australia, he had an extended break from University. Zach and Katie took the opportunity to take the boys to Canada to visit. Brandon was excited to see relatives that he hasn't seen in awhile. Josh and Matt didn't remember much from their first trip, but they enjoyed meeting second cousins and all of their other various relatives in that country. Danny and Dallas also had a good time.
Year Thirteen: Pet: Dog
This year, Zach and Katie got another dog. Matt made the comment that Sassy needed another doggie friend. He kept asking for a second dog until finally his parents gave in. Orville is the newest addition to the family. He was adopted from the same shelter that Sassy is from. He's all black and has medium-length fur. No one is quite sure what breeds he represents, but he's certainly a dog. He's only two, and he loves to run and jump and play. He wasn't sure what to think of Sassy at first, but he's grown to like her.
Year Fourteen: Job: lose job
After thirteen years of working as a store clerk, Katie was laid off due to a decine in business. She wasn't too happy about the layoff, but is using her free time to do more things with the boys. She's also looking into going back to school to get a degree in something.
Year Fifteen: Job: transfer to different department
Zach recently decided to transfer to another department in the news room--sports! He's been a daytime anchor for most of his career, but when the position came up for a primetime sports anchor, he applied for and got the position. Zach's salary didn't change too much, but he is happy with his new position.
