As a psychologist I of course automatically think of Jean Piaget (1896-1980) when I hear it. Although he is famous for his work on cognitive development in children, his own degree was actually in biology, not psychology.
In case anyone is interested, the surname Piaget originally meant "keeper of a toll booth." :)
