I would like
Agatha more if I lived somewhere different. As it is, I mostly hear ah-XAH-tah, where the X is like the -ch in loch.
Agatha Christie is a good association!
Ursula is uncommon here in South
Africa; I knew someone whose sister was
Ursula, but they pronounced it URSHula and shortened it to Ursh, which I find really, really ugly. I don't mind it in
German - I actually prefer
Ursel to
Ursula - and I suppose they derived it from
Uschi, but it just puts me right off.
