My biggest associations are
Amelia Earhart, the pilot, and
Amelia Bedelia, the kids' book character known for taking expressions too literally.
I dislike it, I hate the vowel ə in the first syllable. I love the English pronunciation of
Emilia, though, and
Amalia, which I would pronounce a-MAL-ee-ə. I also think the nickname
Amy sounds like it belongs in the older generations - I know a lot of middle-aged Amys.
For middle names, I think
Jane,
Kathleen, and
Marie. For siblings,
Penelope and
Conrad.
