Not sure what "pop charts" you were looking at. On the SSA site Paralee makes the top 1000 list for 19 separate years, the first being in 1881, when it was #486, and the last year it appeared was 1908.
Paralee seems to be a primarily Southern USA name created sometime in the early 19th century. I still haven't been able to track down what its origin is, but it was obviously fairly common in some parts of the South during the 19th century. So it certainly isn't a "new trendy" spelling.
