I think it's one of the most common names I know, but I still like it. I think it's much nicer than Andrew too. I pronounce it ahn-DRE-ahs. I don't picture a particular type of child because I know so many, but it's certainly not a negative image that comes to mind.

I'm assuming you don't live in the US? We got the name from my SO's father who is from Germany. We have been told it is very common name there. I've never heard the name used here.

In the US it's only on #969 on the list and falling in popularity, so that luckily wouldn't be an issue for you. I wish it was more uncommon here too.
