It is a unisex name but I personally prefer it for a boy. The first and only
Avery I know well rather than just in passing is a boy. Overall I've met more female than male
Avery's. The
Avery I know well was born in 2002 or 2003 and his cousin
Marcel is like a cousin to me.
Also just because I prefer
Avery for a boy doesn't mean I think other people shouldn't use it for a girl. I prefer
Rowan for a boy but it is also nice for a girl. Many people who responded on this site also view
Avery as a unisex name but prefer it for a boy although most of the US prefers it for a girl based on the popularity data.
