[Games] Re: Murder on the orient express!
László Sándor Adrenyi, a high-ranking Hungarian diplomat, notorious womanizer, prolific gambler and all-around disliked fellow, has been murdered! His sleeping quarters were found to be demolished, with all signs pointing to a gruesome struggle before he was murdered and thrown from the train. Detective Hazel Florence Lavigne is on the case, and everyone is a suspect! Was it:The Gangster- Jack Montgomery Killian, a rakish ne'er-do-well who just came out on top of New York City's bloody gang war?The Secretary- Beatrix Adelia McQueen, Killian's loyal and secretive secretary who may be hiding a ruthless streak of her own?The Valet- Samuel Morgan Llewelyn, Killian's unfailingly polite and fastidious valet, who despite his seemingly easygoing nature is rumored to be responsible for carrying out Killian's more gruesome jobs? The Missionary- Alma Florina Romero, an elderly, devout and idealistic woman with little tolerance for her more libertine traveling companions, an insistence that her belongings are being stolen by her fellow passengers, and a desire to save souls by any means necessary? The Widow- Laila Seraphina Muhammed Gillette-Helmer, a beautiful young widow whose three late husbands all died under mysterious circumstances and left her obscenely wealthy? The Professor- Dr. Mathilda Vivienne Lynch, the brilliant but underappreciated biology professor with a chip on her shoulder and an extensive knowledge of anatomy? The Russian Noble- Duchess Sofya Valeriya Nikolskya, a formerly wealthy noblewoman who is on the run from the Bolsheviks and now drifts across Europe relying on other nobles' hospitality and dreaming of her former glory? The Maid- Eva Johanna Kohn, Duchess Sofya's devoted housemaid, constant companion and possible lover, who would do anything to make her beloved Duchess happy? The Governess- Diana Frances Eldon, a young woman who claims to be traveling to the home of a wealthy family to be their governess, but is deliberately vague about her past and doesn't have any luggage? The Colonel- Colonel Francis Roman Thorne, a soldier past his prime who loves gambling almost as much as he does waxing poetic about his glory days? The Diplomat's Wife- Katalin Orsolya Adrenyi, a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage who is rumored to have been attending socialist meetings behind her more conservative husband's back? The Salesman: Daniel Santiago Ferreyro, a young man with haunted eyes who is frantically attempting to keep other passengers away from a large crate that seems to be breathing and occasionally growling? The Director- Jean-Luc Henri Guillaume, longtime friend of Detective Lavigne who is traveling on one of his own trains for the first time and is alarmed by all the shady people around him? It's probably not him. The Conductor- Matthieu Adil Khan, a recently employed French-Indian conductor who is eager to prove himself but has a bad habit of losing pieces of his uniform? Could his friendly but scatterbrained persona be just a front?
Did Mr. Killian or Col. Thorne grow weary of waiting for Mr. Adrenyi to repay his considerable gambling debts?
Perhaps Mr. Killian implied to Miss McQueen or Mr. Llewelyn that someone should make an example of this weaselly diplomat?
Was Sra. Romero finally pushed too far by Mr. Adrenyi's sinful ways?
Did he learn a terrible secret that Mr. Muhammed Gillette-Helmer was eager to keep under wraps?
Did he rub Dr. Lynch the wrong way and find himself in pieces?
Did Duchess Nikolskya or her beloved Ms. Kohn take offense at his wife's Bolshevik leanings and kill the wrong target?
Was Mrs. Adrenyi tired of her husband's bad habits and more tired of waiting to become a widow?
Who is Miss Eldon really, and did her past catch up with her?
What is in Mr. Ferreyro's crate, and could it have escaped and done horrific things?
Did Mr. Guillaume or Mr. Khan just want Mr. Adrenyi off their train?---Actually, it was none of them, although László Adrenyi is indeed dead. Mr. Adrenyi had been threatened by many debtors and even more angry husbands, and he could see that his ways were about to catch up with him and when he booked the train trip he saw his opportunity to disappear forever. He trashed his own sleeper car while his wife Katalin was in the dining car enjoying a late-night drink with Diana Eldon (who is not a murderer but who is a pickpocket who stole the real Miss Eldon's house key, and then her mail, clothes and identity and is planning to improve her lot in life by posing as an upper-class governess, but that's nobody else's business but hers). Mr. Adrenyi then disguised himself as a conductor using the clothes that he had been stealing from Mathieu, and disembarked when the train stopped during the night to let another train pass. He then started to walk along the tracks to the next city so that he could start his new life, and was promptly hit by another train. His wife does not miss him. The rest of the highly suspicious and mostly criminal passengers are all free to go their separate ways at the end of their trip. Nobody ever learns what Daniel Ferreyro had in his box. They do not want to know.*******************Personal Name List:https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/187938Guilty Pleasure Name List:https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/187938/140061
