[Surname] Re: Pritulak
The surname Pritulak likely originates from “prytulok.” It could refer to someone associated with a shelter, a person who took refuge or was taken in, or even someone who worked in a shelter or lived under protection. While the Polish word for shelter is "przytułek," the surname appears to have a Ukrainian origin, with its meaning tied to the concept of care or protection, which could have evolved into a surname describing a person linked to such a place or state.

So the second usage I listed (Ukrainian Polonised) would be correct?

Probably yes. But one thing for sure is that it’s Ukrainian.

I did more research. It's a rare variant of Prytulyak, which is a term for a refugee in Ukrainian (literally means "shelter person").The names on the site
