Prodan looks to me like it has a Latin base. I googled it and found both Italian and Spanish names. It ultimately looks like it means "produce" or "production" but in Italian, at least has come to mean "lavish" or maybe "profuse" ...any could be the source of descriptive surname.

Scratching around the net I've come up with the information that Prodan is Romanian, so yes, Latin based. The meaning is given as "foster", which I take to mean foster child.
