Re: ISO info regarding surname Izzo
I suggest you take a look at this page, where a bearer of the surname (George Izzo) briefly talks about the history of his surname:

http://www.searchmalta.com/surnames/izzo/index.shtml

It's possible to contact George Izzo, therefore look at the bottom of his piece of text. He'll most likely be able to give you more information about the origin of your surname.

Also, the surname is briefly mentioned as an example on this page:

http://www.arduini.net/names/names02.htm

I shall quote what's written on that page:

"Some names reflect the appearance or behavior of the original bearers in reference to the rest of their natural world. Gallo and Galliano made their contemporaries think of roosters, Izzo and Loizzo seemed snail-like, Marinello (in somebody's opinion) resembled a ladybug, while Mussolini and Muscarella were like gnats. Fasano suggested a pheasant, and Caliendo probably sang like a lark. Colombo was associated with doves, Capra with goats, Volpe with foxes, Urso with bears and Rago with frogs. Agnello was as gentle as a lamb."

I know it's not much information, but at least we can be quite sure that your surname is of Italian origin.

I hope that helps.

Regards,

Lucille
