Marillier
Or, just possibly, Marrillier, Marillier etc!

I'm intrigued by this exotic-looking and musical surname, currently prominent for being owned by a member of the Zimbabwe cricket team now touring England. The relevant Mr Marillier looks like a production-line athlete of European origins; the colonial history of Zim is firmly English, OK British; there are a few French Huguenot surnames going around in South Africa but not that one.

Any ideas?

In fact it is a French surname. The surname comes from a profession:
it is a man who is in charge ti help a parish priest ans an administrator. Sometimes he has the charge to ring bells.
