I was wondering about the name Bondy. I remember someone mentioning that it might be spanish and having something to do with a "good day." It turns out that Bondy is a very common name across Europe, and for some reason especially among eastern european jews. I'm not sure why the Slavic connection, or if this is even the same name, but the best bet etymologically seems to me the etymology of the one place actually called Bondy, which is a small town in the ile-de-france. It is of roman origin, and it derives from the latin "boniticum" for the "estate of bonitius" who was, of course, the son of "boni." Any thoughts for me?
