My grandfather and his family came from Kiev in Russia with this name. They are Jewish. When I traveled in Greece, I was asked several times if I was Greek. When I checked the Ellis Island records, I saw peoples' names from Greece with spelling variations of the name Barkas.
Does anyone know the origin or meaning of this name?
