German names Zunz, Zuntz, also Suntz - are they derived from an obsolete first name? I have found a site where the forms, Zunz especially, are connected to Zenz, ie. Vinzenz, Creszenz etc. (Vincentius, Crescentius).

Hmm, what I have found suggest they are from a town near Cologne on the Rhine called Zons, which may mean "stagnant water" from an ancient element 'san, sen, sin, son, sun'.
