How is the surname Eco pronounced? Umberto Eco is one of my favorite authors but I always feel uncomfortable discussing his works with people because I don't know if I'm saying his last name right!

And I'm double embarrassed because I, myself, am Italian! I feel like it should be pronounced AY-cho but I've heard others say it EE-ko...which is right??
