Gilzenberg?
I was wondering about the meaning of Gilzenberg the name of my maternal Grandmother. She was of Jewish-Austrian descent. I already know "berg" means mountain but am still unsure of Gilzen. My only idea is it is related to "gilben" to yellow but this is a mere guess on the fact they sound similar. Any ideas?ThankyouEleanor

There is a mountain in Austria called Gülsenberg, which might become Gilzenberg, in some regional accent, or as spoken and written in English. No other explanation comes to mind at present.
