Alush is said to be Arabic for "lamb", though I've been unable to confirm that. I suspect it may be from a Berber language. It's also found as al-Alush, and in French language versions as Allouche and Lelouch. The French film director Claude Lelouch is of Algerian Jewish origin.
Rosemarie Schimmel ("islamic Names") mentions "Allush or Aliyush from Ali", but doesn't locate the name anywhere.
As for Shlush I can add nothing to my posting of June 19.
