Iannetta is the last name of the catcher for the Colorado Rockies, and I'm just curious where it derives. Apparently he's Russian, but that last name doesn't sound like it at all.

It should come from Italy, from Ianni, that in Southern regional dialects means "John". It is the feminine variant.
