Tyzick-French or Slavic
Hi am wondering if the surname Tyzack, Tyzick, Lyzack, Lizick etc are exclusively derived from France. I know the 1st spelling is generally the anglicized form in England of Du Thisac, but whether any of the others can possible be anglicized of Slavic origin. In my research of my family, we have come across an apparent name change. The old family rumour which we have partially confirmed, said there was a name change after my ancestor born in Sheffield, deserted from the army in Glasgow Scotland. It was suggested the name was possibly Polish, but it may well be the name being virtually unknown in Scotland could have been interpreted Polish because it sounds Slavic. Any ideas!
