Rodin is one of those names that can have multiple national origins as you can see at http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Rodin-places-origin.ashx. If it's Russian, the source might be one of the places named Rodin in Russia.

It is an Italian surname as well, from the area of VERONA mamely.

I've seen Rodin listed among a number of Russian surnames that derive from the male given name, Rodion. This is a Russian version of the old Greek name Herodion, the ultimate source of which is the name of the Ancient Greek goddess, Hera. Apparently Herodion is mentioned in the New Testament, and so becomes acceptable as a christian name.
