Question regarding my last name

My last name is 'Thurheimer'

It's German. That's about all I know. Does anyone know anything about it? Thanks!

Germans spell it Thürheimer or Thuerheimer. If I search the web for that I see the name is still used in Germany. It means 'the man from Thuerheim' (It appears no town with that name currently exists). The Thuer element refers to the Thuringers, a tribe, and Heim may be translated as village.

The suffix "heim"has convinced me that this surname comes from toponymy. However this surname at present doesn't exist in German white pages and it is extremely rare in the STATES too.
That's all I can say about it.

Without looking it up, I'd say ...'Thur' would likely be from 'Thor', the Norse god of "thunder". 'Heimer', I believe refers to "home" or "house" if I'm not mistaken.
