Yeargin/Yeargain
Does anyone know the meaning or geographic origin of the Welsh surname Yeargin/Yeargain? It was my mother's maiden name, and the first known person in America with the name was a Methodist minister in the 1730s who came to Virginia from Wales.

A lot of research has been done on this and nobody's been able to figure anything about the origin of this surname. There are no Yeargins or Yeargains in England. According to the information at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~yearg/Welcome.html, there's no evidence that the first bearer of the surname in the US came from Wales. It's been proposed at http://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=yeargin that the origin is German Jürgen but that's pure speculation.

I was always told that the Yeargain came from 3 brothers that came from Wales (they were Irish, Scottish and Wales) I don't remember all the names I know the lineage that I descended from was Andrew line, from what I've read he was a Methodist preacher that traveled all over the easy coast and established Church's and other worship places as he went, I know he was married and had several children.
