My mom maiden name is Poutre and I have been having a hard name finding to meaning and origin of it. Ethnic background Polish, Irish(?) and other European. I don't know if the last part will help.

Poutre is an americanization of the French-Canadian name Poutré which is probably derived from Old French poutre ‘young mare, filly’, the nickname of a vivacious, vigorous individual.
