ArchivesWhy are some common surnames not listed?
Some surnames which should be listed on the main surname list aren't there.For example, the surname "Grimm" is not listed,even though it's a very well known surname.I had to add it 5 years ago,and yet after all this time, it's still not on the main list.Who is it that decides what goes on the main list?

The main list of names is maintained by only one person, and it can indeed take a long time for names to be added. In the meantime, if someone searches for Grimm on this site, they will see your submission.

The work is done by volunteers. I can't remember how one becomes a volunteer. I was invited to do this job. However, after I started I found that if I only made one minor change to the information given I was credited with the whole entry. This was unfair to the original poster, and would look like I was stealing other people's work, so I didn't do any more.
