Van der Westhuizen
I was thinking Van der Westhuizen was a Dutch name. Is that correct? I just wanted to double check.
Also, would anyone happen to know the meaning?

It is dutch and it means 'of west Huizen' Huizen is a town in Nothern Holland, and it means 'house'. I hope this helps you.
how sure are you about this?
in my opinion it means "from Westhuizen", where the latter is not the same as West-Huizen. I don't there's such a thing as West-Huizen. Normally in nowadays Dutch on road signs, it would be Huizen-West. Moreover, the surname Westerhuis is from a place called Westhuis near Marrum. The meaning of these placenames is "western houses".
