Shalak Albanian
I did research on this surname, for Ukrainian & Polish. In 2019 some one else submitted Shalak with usage "Albanian". Does anyone know if this is Albanian surname? I did research in Cyrillic and because of this, it might not have come up with Albanian usage.

Not about Shalak but Ślak - I can't find it as "cinder, ash".
Is it from polish dialect (f.e from one of eastern regions) or old polish? The mention of word "Ślak" I found, looks like an alternative spelling of word "szlak" that means "trail/route/way".

Here it says it's from polish dialect - "Kuyavia"(Kujawski)

*Ślak appears here in "historical records" -----

Polish Ślak "cinder, ash" is a borrowing from the German word Schlacke with the same meaning. It has a solid German etymology (from the verb schlagen "to punch, to hammer") so it is not a borrowing in the other direction.
