our familys surname was chuprik. my father's side is from poland (we are jewish). anyone knows what is the meening of this name "chuprik"?

It looks Ukrainian, or it might be an English-Language spelling of the Polish Czupryk. It may be related in meaning to the Polish surnames Czupryniak and Czuprynski, which my source says are nicknames for a person with a thick head of hair.
