Zeluff, Zeluf, Zeliff, Zeloff, etc.
I am trying to find info on the name Zeluf, but cannot find a single clue as to where it originated. The family first appears in NY, 1701, but no one can figure out anything else about it. Any opinions or direction would be appreciated. Thank you

The suggestion that the name is Dutch in origin does suit a name established in New York in 1701. However, the name doesn't appear to exist in present-day Netherlands in any of these forms.
