Re: Can anyone tell me what the word LOBO means?

Lobo does mean dog or wolf in Spanish. As dogs are descended from wolves the terms in many languages are linked. Wolves were revered in ancient Europe so many names refer to them ...Adolf, Lopez, Rudolf to name but a few ...

In fact "lobo" in modern spanish means "wolf", but in old Spanish it was rather "lope" similar to the italian word "Lupo".
Both in Italy and Spain many surnames derived some centuries ago from the word "wolf": "lupus"in latin.
In Middle Ages Lupo and Lope were first names in Italy and Spain.
