Meaning & History
This Surname was given in honour by the Britishers to Nikhil Chandra Banerjee to recognize his efforts in constructing The Karali Kali temple in Dhaka,now the capital of Bangladesh. It was a very expensive construction and still attracts tourists every year. It was decided that the family of Nikhil Chandra Banerjee will use the surname Karal which was derived from the name Karali Kali the Hindu godess. As per the records there are only four people from Nikhil Chandra Karal second generation who uses this surname with Sri Indranil Karal being the youngest, and the only son of this proud family.
